Homelessness Roundtable

A difficult challenge facing our community is homelessness. This is a community-wide issue; we in the City cannot resolve it alone. Thus, we are inviting you to join us in developing a shared response.

To that end, we are convening a “Homelessness Roundtable.” We envision a group of community members working together to take meaningful actions. We do not have a preconceived set of ideas or initiatives to propose; we are looking for these to come from Roundtable participants. The City will serve as the convener, provide some support, and participate.

We know that some residents have recently provided furniture and bedding for families who were experiencing homeless and found housing; this is one example of community involvement. I’m attaching a story about a much larger effort underway in Eugene, Oregon as another example.

The first gathering of the Homelessness Roundtable will be on Thursday, September 5 at the Rohnert Park Library from 3:00-5:00 p.m. To help us prepare, I would appreciate your letting us know by Monday, September 2 by clicking on this hyperlink: RVSP (click here)

If you are unable to make that meeting or to join us for the larger effort, and you are part of an organization such as a church or club, please feel free to ask someone else to participate.

I hope you are able to join us in this important effort.
