Recycling and Compost Services

The City of Rohnert Park contracts with Recology to perform garbage pickup and recycling services to all residential, commercial and multi-family customers.

If you have questions or concerns about your recycling services, please contact Recology at (800) 243-0291.

The City of Rohnert Park contracts with Recology to perform curbside refuse, recycling and compost pickup from the residents and businesses of the City, 5 days a week, excluding some holidays. Your blue recycling bin and green compost bin are picked up every week on your trash day. View the Pick-Up Schedule for your street's collection day.

Recycling

You can place all of your recyclables in your blue recycling bin.  These include paper, cardboard, cartons, glass, plastic containers and lids, and metal cans. Please make sure food and liquids are removed from your recyclables, and that they are not too enclosed in a plastic bag.  For more information about what you can and cannot place in your recycling bin, please see the recycling guidelines or contact Recology at (800) 243-0291 or [email protected].

Compost

You can put more than yard clippings in your green compost bin.  In addition to landscape pruning’s, grass clippings and small tree branches, you can also put food scraps and food soiled paper in your green bin.  These items include fruits and vegetables, old bread, pasta and rice, tea bags, coffee grounds and filters, meat and bones, cheese, and eggshells.  Please do not place non-compostable items, such plastics, glass, or other refuse, in the green compost bin.  For more information about what you can and cannot place in your green bin, please see the compost guidelines or contact Recology at (800) 243-0291 or [email protected].

Residential Recycling Services

These recycling program services are provided as part of your refuse collection services:

You can mix all of your recyclables together in one easy-to-handle rolling cart. No more separating recyclable materials! This means that cardboard, newspaper, junk mail, office paper, glass bottle, milk cartons and other recyclables can all be put in the same container. The hauler will sort the materials. Please be careful though to follow some easy mixed recycling guidelines.

You can recycle used oil curbside by special appointment. To recycle used motor oil, you will have to sign up in advance, and you are required to use a special container provided by the hauler. You also must call ahead for pickup. Contact Recology at (800) 243-0291 to participate.

Yard waste will be picked up every week. No more wondering which week to put it out!

Commercial Recycling Services

Recycling benefits business: it's good for your bottom line! By increasing the quantity of materials you recycle, you may be able to reduce your waste collection needs - as well as your waste disposal bill. Most of the waste generated by a typical business is recyclable. Often over 60% of an office building's refuse is paper or other recyclable fiber products. It also helps to reduce or reuse at every opportunity.

Recology's recycling services include:

In the coming months, city and hauler representatives will visit many businesses to help determine the best size, location and number of recycling containers needed to divert 50% of a facility's waste and easily integrate recycling into its operations. Recycling training also will be provided to employees.

Recology offers a variety of services to make recycling easy and convenient. These services include:
