  • $2,000 upon completion of field training program

* PSO III: Completion of PSO II and Fire Engineer requirements
* PSO IV: Completion of PSO III, POST Intermediate Certification, 10 years experience w/5 years in RP, and specialty assignment or an AA degree or actively seeking a BA/BS

COMMUNITY

Rohnert Park, the gateway to Sonoma County's wine country, is a well planned community with twelve neighborhood parks, nine tennis court complexes, three swimming pools, and two 18-hole golf courses. Tree-lined residential streets are home to approximately 43,000 residents, occupying seven miles of land area. Designed as a master planned community, each residential neighborhood supports a school, park and picnic area, lighted baseball and soccer fields, and recreational facilities like bike paths that connect the neighborhoods together. Living in the city offers education through the Cotati/Rohnert Park Unified School District and Sonoma State University. A diversity of year-round recreational and arts programs are enjoyed by the community. REQUIREMENTS
Lateral Public Safety Officer

  • Employed as a California Peace Officer in good standing
  • Completion of the Field Training Program in your current agency
  • Possess a California POST Basic Certificate
  • Lateral candidates may be appointed up to the top step in the salary range
Academy Attendee/Graduate and Public Safety Officer Trainee
  • Must be 21 years old at the time of the Police Academy graduation
  • Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Additional Requirements
  • US Citizen or US Citizen within one year of appointment
  • Possession of a Class C California Drivers License
  • Pass background check, and medical and psychological evaluations
Highly Desirable
  • Completion of college level units
  • Completion of Firefighter I Academy
  • Firefighter I or II certification through the California Office of the State Fire Marshal
