Beautiful parks require a little dirty work! Whether you are an army of one or 100, we have ample opportunities for you and your organization to contribute to the wellbeing and enhancement of our park system. The Adopt-A-Park program allows neighborhood organizations, civic and church groups, scout troops, businesses, schools, families and individuals to dedicate their time, talents and treasures to the maintenance and development of Rohnert Park’s unique park system.
Clean, green and safe parks are an essential part of creating and maintaining a friendly and healthy community. Our local parks help increase the visual appeal of neighborhoods and provide a safe place for neighbors to gather, friends to meet and kids to play. Planting flowers, weeding, and clean up/fix-up days are just some of the activities that volunteer groups can do. Volunteer groups will have a say in identifying the needs and developing plans for their adopted park.
Adopting a park isn’t just about work; it’s about fun! Your group’s time at your adopted park could include a picnic, outdoor games, or a swimming outing (in some parks). Best of all, it’s an opportunity to get to know one another better.
Adopting groups work with the Community Services Department in operating, maintaining, and improving their adopted park. A sign will be placed at your adopted park in recognition of your efforts. The Adopt-A-Park program will not be used in place of the Park Department’s regular maintenance of the parks. The program is designed to increase citizen awareness and pride in Rohnert Park’s valuable parks.
