THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
When the Kitchen Kut-Ups started in 1972, there were only eleven members, playing things like kazoos, washboards, buckets and kitchen utensils- hence the name. Early in their history they entertained at rest homes, lodges, mobile home parks, public schools and for the “Fun After 50 Club” at the local Rohnert Park Senior Center. They also played for the Sonoma-Marin fair-winning a trophy for their float, and at Marine World when it was located in Redwood City. The Kut-Ups quickly grew in size, so in the 1980s they started playing an annual stage show in the summertime, involving multiple performances. For a number of years these took place at the Veterans Building in Petaluma. Then in 1990 they relocated to the Rohnert Park Spreckels Performing Arts Center where they’re enjoying their 22nd consecutive season! The Kut-Ups also do scale down “mini-shows” at other venues for the benefit of audiences who may be unable to attend the big show. After forty years the Kut-Ups have quite a history. Currently, the Kut-Ups have a fabulous roster of 45 active members and 24 support members. They have began fundraisers such as Pasta Feeds, Fashion Shows and Pancake Breakfast’s to help support their budget. So come be a part of The Best of 40 years!
