Our Department is divided into two Divisions, Police and Fire. A Public Safety Administrative Sergeant who reports to the Police Lieutenants manages the Information Services duties.
The major responsibilities of the area include maintaining police and fire records, maintaining evidence and property, court liaison, police and fire crime scene processing, providing dispatch for all police, fire, and medical emergency services.
The Administrative Sergeant serves as the Public Information officer for the agency. The P.I.O. is responsible for all press/media releases and is the official spokesperson for the agency
Records Bureau
The Records Bureau is managed by the Lieutenant in charge of Information Services. The Records Bureau component of the Department of Public Safety is responsible for the retention, maintenance, and dissemination of all Police and Fire records produced by Department employees for law enforcement purposes only. The Records Bureau is responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:
Identification Bureau
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Identification Bureau is comprised of one Evidence Specialist who is specially trained in the documentation, collection and preservation of evidence. Specialized training includes bloodstain documentation, photography, videography, collection of evidence and numerous methods for processing and identification of latent prints.
Property & Evidence
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Property & Evidence Unit retains property collected from victims and suspects, as well as lost and found items. Property is released Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., by appointment only at:
